The condition and appearance of the skin on your face, neck, and other areas of your body can greatly improve or decrease your physical appearance. One of the ways to improve your physical appearance is by taking care of your skin for a radiant and blemish-free appearance. Skin tags around your neck and on other areas of your body can look unattractive, attract unwanted attention, and additionally be an annoyance and painful when they become caught on your clothes. Here are some tips to help you remedy and eliminate skin tags to help you have a more attractive appearance.
Approximately 25 percent of people will develop a skin tag sometime in their lifetime, usually after the age of 50. But you can be more prone to skin tag development if you are pregnant, you are obese, or if someone else in your family has them, as they are a hereditary condition.
When you have a skin tag in an awkward area on your body, or an area that has more blood vessels, it can be difficult and even dangerous for you to remove it yourself. In most situations, it is necessary for you to see your dermatologist to have skin tags removed. A cosmetic dermatologist can use liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin tag, where it will dry up and fall from your skin. Your dermatologist may also choose to clip the skin tag from your skin using a sterile sharp cutting tool and then treat any excessive bleeding.
It is also important to see your dermatologist about any skin tags that are a concern to you because they are darker in color than the surrounding skin, are large or unusual in shape, as this can be a sign that there is a larger problem. Your dermatologist may have the skin tag tested for cancerous cells after they remove it from you.
Natural Oil Treatments
Treatment for skin tags can also be easy and is something you can do at home on your own. You only need some oils and other common household materials.
Oregano oil contains properties that fight bacteria, provide numbing relief, reduce inflammation, and have antioxidant properties. Combine oregano oil with equal parts coconut oil to dilute the oil, as it can hurt your skin when applied full strength. Apply the oil mixture onto your skin tag, then tie off the skin tag with dental floss. Repeat this oil application process several times throughout the day until the skin tag falls off.
You can also use tea tree oil to treat your skin tags for removal. Combine tea tree with equal parts coconut oil, then rub it onto you skin tags, several times each day. You can also apply the oil mixture onto a cotton ball, then apply it onto the skin tag with adhesive. Repeat this process each day until the skin tag dries and falls from your skin.
Castor oil is another compound you can use on your own to remove skin tags from your skin. Castor oil contains properties that removes toxins from and cleans your skin while you use it. The castor oil applied onto your skin pulls moisture from the skin tag to shrink it and dry it out where it will fall off. The nutrients in the castor oil will help keep the surrounding skin healthy while you treat your skin tag for removal.
Apply castor oil directly to your skin tag several times each day. It is helpful if you first use a sterile needle to prick a pinpoint hole into the skin tag. This helps the castor oil absorb more easily into the skin tag to shrink it and dry it out. You can also mix castor oil with baking soda to create a paste, which you can apply onto the skin tag. Cover this with a bandage to keep the castor oil paste in place.
